Medium-density fibreboard (MDF) is an engineered wood product formed by breaking down hardwood or softwood residuals into wood fibres, the fibres are combined with a wax and resin binder to form a rigid consistent board. MDF is dense, flat, stiff, has no knots and is easily machined. Its consistency makes it ideal for laser cutting and engraving.
BLACK MDF is highly versatile as the colour is all the way through. This can be very forgiving for laser burn marks and can often be used 'as is' for construction / craft projects.
To minimise burn marks from laser cutting we can apply an optional protective masking tape, when applicable we keep this masking on for protection during shipping.
Cutting Offsets (kerf width / laser cut line width)
1-3mm thick material = approx. 0.15mm
4-6mm thick material = approx. 0.20mm
