We supply both consumers and commercial customers including manufacturers, engineers, designers, architects, educational establishments and research organisations.

4. Orders and Contract Formation

All quotations issued by Laser Lab are invitations to treat and do not constitute a legally binding offer.

An order placed by the Customer constitutes an offer to purchase Goods or Services.

A contract shall only come into existence when Laser Lab:

  • accepts the order in writing;
  • issues an order confirmation; or
  • commences manufacture.

Laser Lab reserves the right to refuse or cancel any order at its sole discretion.

Reasons may include, but are not limited to:

  • inability to manufacture the requested item;
  • material availability;
  • pricing errors;
  • suspected fraudulent activity;
  • intellectual property concerns;
  • offensive or unlawful content;
  • health and safety concerns;
  • export control restrictions;
  • technical limitations of our equipment.

Where payment has already been received for a cancelled order, a full refund of monies paid will be issued.

5. Quotations

Unless otherwise stated:

  • quotations remain valid for 30 days;
  • quotations are subject to material availability;
  • quotations are based upon information supplied by the Customer;
  • changes to specifications may require a revised quotation.

Laser Lab reserves the right to withdraw or amend quotations before acceptance.

6. Prices

All prices are displayed in Pounds Sterling (£).

Shipping charges, customs duties and import taxes are charged separately unless otherwise stated.

Laser Lab reserves the right to correct genuine pricing errors before acceptance of an order.

7. Payment

Unless otherwise agreed in writing:

  • payment is required before production begins;
  • ownership of Goods remains with Laser Lab until payment has been received in full.

Accepted payment methods are shown during checkout.

Late commercial payments may incur statutory interest under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.

8. Customer Accounts

Where customers create an online account, they are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials.

Customers must ensure that account information remains accurate and up to date.

Laser Lab accepts no responsibility for unauthorised use resulting from failure to maintain account security.

9. Customer Responsibilities

The Customer is responsible for ensuring that all information supplied is complete and accurate.

This includes, without limitation:

  • dimensions;
  • quantities;
  • material selection;
  • tolerances;
  • engraving text;
  • delivery address;
  • contact information;
  • artwork;
  • CAD files.

Laser Lab shall not be liable for errors arising from incorrect information supplied by the Customer.

10. Design Files

Customers remain solely responsible for all Design Files submitted to Laser Lab.

Unless specifically agreed otherwise in writing, Laser Lab will manufacture directly from the files supplied and will not verify:

  • dimensions;
  • tolerances;
  • assembly fit;
  • mechanical function;
  • compliance with engineering standards;
  • suitability for any intended application.

Customers are encouraged to carefully inspect all files before placing an order. Please see https://laserlab.co.uk/pages/design-setup for guidance.

Laser Lab reserves the right to reject files that:

  • cannot be processed;
  • contain errors preventing manufacture;
  • may damage our equipment;
  • contain prohibited content.

Minor modifications necessary for manufacture, including the correction of duplicate vectors, overlapping entities, open paths or similar production-related issues, may be undertaken without altering the intended design.

Laser Lab also reserves the right to optimise nesting, cutting order, lead-in points, engraving strategy and manufacturing methods where this does not materially alter the finished product.

11. Intellectual Property

Customers warrant that they own, or have obtained all necessary permissions to use, every Design File supplied.

Laser Lab does not accept responsibility for verifying ownership of intellectual property rights.

Customers must not submit files which infringe:

  • copyright;
  • registered designs;
  • patents;
  • trademarks;
  • design rights;
  • confidential information;
  • contractual obligations.

Where Laser Lab reasonably believes infringement may occur, we reserve the right to refuse manufacture without providing detailed reasons.

12. Customer Indemnity

The Customer agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Laser Lab, its directors, employees and contractors against all claims, damages, liabilities, legal costs and expenses arising from:

  • infringement of intellectual property rights;
  • manufacture of customer-supplied designs;
  • unlawful use of Goods;
  • breach of these Terms by the Customer.

This indemnity shall survive completion of the order.

13. AI-Generated Artwork

Where Design Files have been created wholly or partially using artificial intelligence systems, the Customer remains solely responsible for ensuring that the files:

do not infringe third-party intellectual property rights;
comply with applicable laws;
are suitable for manufacture.

Laser Lab accepts no responsibility for determining ownership or originality of AI-generated content.

14. Confidentiality & Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs)

Laser Lab regularly undertakes work involving confidential, commercially sensitive and pre-release products, prototypes, research and development projects, and proprietary designs.

We recognise the importance of protecting our customers' intellectual property and confidential business information. Upon request, we are happy to enter into a mutually agreed Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before discussing or commencing any project involving commercially sensitive information.

Where an NDA has been executed, Laser Lab will:

  • treat confidential information as strictly confidential;
  • use confidential information solely for the purposes of fulfilling the agreed Services;
  • restrict access to personnel who require such information to perform their duties;
    implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to safeguard confidential information;
  • not disclose confidential information except with prior written consent or where required by law.

Where no separate NDA exists, Laser Lab will nevertheless treat customer drawings, CAD files, specifications and commercially sensitive information with an appropriate level of confidentiality and will not intentionally disclose such information except where necessary to complete the Services or where required by law.

Unless expressly agreed otherwise in writing, Laser Lab will not publish, display or use customer products, prototypes, designs or projects in marketing materials, social media, case studies or portfolio examples without the Customer's prior consent.

Nothing in these Terms limits the obligations contained within a separately executed NDA. Where any conflict exists, the NDA shall prevail.

15. Manufacturing Standards & Production

Laser Lab will manufacture Goods using reasonable skill, care and professional judgement in accordance with the specifications agreed with the Customer.

Unless expressly agreed in writing, Laser Lab reserves the right to determine the most appropriate manufacturing methods, including:

  • cutting sequence;
  • nesting layouts;
  • sheet orientation;
  • engraving methods;
  • tooling;
  • masking materials;
  • workholding methods;
  • machine selection;
  • production processes.

Provided such decisions do not materially alter the agreed specification, they shall not constitute a variation of the contract.

16. Manufacturing Tolerances

Laser cutting is a precision manufacturing process. However, all manufacturing processes are subject to acceptable tolerances.

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the following shall apply:

  • dimensional tolerances of approximately ±0.25 mm for laser-cut components;
  • engraving position tolerances appropriate to the manufacturing process;
  • material thickness tolerances as specified by the material manufacturer;
  • kerf width and heat-affected characteristics inherent to laser processing.

Laser Lab shall not be liable where finished parts fall within these normal manufacturing tolerances.

Where tighter tolerances are required, these must be agreed in writing before manufacture and may incur additional charges.

17. Materials

Laser Lab processes a wide range of natural and manufactured materials.

Customers acknowledge that materials may naturally vary in:

  • colour;
  • surface finish;
  • gloss level;
  • texture;
  • grain pattern;
  • engraving contrast;
  • density;
  • thickness.

Natural timber products, plywood, MDF, cork, leather and similar materials may exhibit knots, grain variation, resin pockets or other naturally occurring characteristics.

Manufactured materials, including acrylic, rubber and laminates, may vary slightly between production batches.

These variations are normal characteristics of the material and shall not constitute defects.

18. Material Availability

Laser Lab endeavours to maintain sufficient stock of advertised materials.

Where a specified material becomes unavailable, we may:

  • delay manufacture until stock becomes available;
  • offer an equivalent alternative material;
  • cancel the order and provide a refund.

No substitute material will be used without the Customer's approval where the substitution would materially affect the finished product.

19. Customer-Supplied Materials

Laser Lab may, at its discretion, agree to process materials supplied by the Customer.

Customer-supplied materials are processed entirely at the Customer's risk.

Whilst every reasonable care will be taken, Laser Lab accepts no liability for:

  • damage occurring during laser processing;
  • unsuccessful engraving or cutting;
  • unexpected material behaviour;
  • contamination;
  • warping;
  • delamination;
  • fire damage resulting from unsuitable materials;
  • hidden defects within customer-supplied materials.

The Customer warrants that any supplied material is suitable for laser processing and does not contain hazardous substances.

Laser Lab reserves the right to refuse to process any material considered unsafe or unsuitable.

20. Offcuts and Waste Material

Unless otherwise agreed in writing:

  • offcuts;
  • skeletons;
  • test pieces;
  • waste material;
  • masking waste;
  • production scrap;

Remain the property of Laser Lab and may be recycled or disposed of following completion of the order.

Where Customers require offcuts to be returned, this must be requested before manufacture begins and additional delivery charges may apply.

21. Customer Property

Customer-supplied materials, tools or equipment left with Laser Lab remain at the Customer's risk.

Completed orders or customer property not collected within 90 days of notification may, after reasonable attempts to contact the Customer, be disposed of or recycled without liability.

22. Artwork Proofs & Approval

Where Laser Lab provides artwork proofs, drawings, renderings or production previews, manufacture will not commence until formal approval (written or electronic) has been received.

Customers are responsible for carefully checking:

  • spelling;
  • dimensions;
  • layout;
  • quantities;
  • orientation;
  • material selection;
  • engraving content.

Approval of a proof constitutes acceptance of all visible content.

Laser Lab accepts no responsibility for errors remaining after approval has been received.

23. Technical Advice

Any technical advice, recommendations or guidance provided by Laser Lab is offered in good faith based upon our experience.

Such advice does not constitute engineering certification or professional design approval.

The Customer remains solely responsible for determining whether any product or material is suitable for its intended application.

24. Suitability for Purpose

Unless expressly agreed in writing, Laser Lab does not warrant that any Goods supplied are suitable for a particular application.

Customers remain responsible for ensuring that products meet all applicable:

  • engineering requirements;
  • structural requirements;
  • safety standards;
  • regulatory approvals;
  • industry specifications.

Where products are incorporated into larger assemblies or systems, overall design responsibility remains with the Customer.

25. Regulated & Safety-Critical Applications

Unless expressly agreed in writing, Goods supplied by Laser Lab are not certified for:

  • structural applications;
  • lifting equipment;
  • aerospace applications;
  • automotive safety systems;
  • medical devices;
  • food-contact applications;
  • pressure vessels;
  • life-support equipment;
  • any other safety-critical or regulated application.

Where certification or traceability is required, this must be agreed before manufacture.

26. Lead Times

Estimated production and delivery times are provided in good faith but are estimates only.

Lead times may vary due to:

  • order volumes;
  • material availability;
  • machine maintenance;
  • supplier delays;
  • courier performance;
  • customer approval times;
  • unforeseen manufacturing issues.

Time shall not be of the essence unless expressly agreed in writing.

27. Delivery

Delivery dates are estimates only.

Laser Lab shall not be liable for delays caused by:

  • courier companies;
  • customs authorities;
  • weather conditions;
  • industrial action;
  • transport disruption;
  • force majeure events.

The Customer is responsible for ensuring that accurate delivery information is provided.

Additional delivery costs resulting from incorrect information supplied by the Customer may be charged.

28. Transfer of Risk & Title

Risk in the Goods passes to the Customer upon delivery to the delivery address or collection by the Customer or their nominated carrier.

Ownership of the Goods shall remain with Laser Lab until payment has been received in full.

Until ownership passes, the Customer shall not pledge, charge or otherwise deal with the Goods in a manner inconsistent with Laser Lab's ownership rights.

29. Inspection of Goods

The Customer should inspect all Goods promptly upon receipt.

Any shortages, transit damage or manufacturing defects should be reported as soon as reasonably practicable and, where possible, within 48 hours of delivery.

Failure to notify Laser Lab within this period does not affect statutory rights but may limit our ability to investigate claims against carriers.

30. Returns & Refunds

Returns are governed by Laser Lab's separate Returns & Refunds Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

In summary:

  • bespoke, personalised and made-to-order Goods are generally non-returnable except where faulty, damaged or incorrectly manufactured;
  • standard stock products may be returned in accordance with our Returns & Refunds Policy and applicable consumer legislation;
  • customers must contact Laser Lab before returning any Goods;
  • returned Goods must be adequately packaged to prevent damage in transit.

Nothing in these Terms limits the Customer's statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

31. Warranty

Laser Lab warrants that Goods will, at the time of delivery:

  • substantially conform to the agreed specification;
  • be manufactured using reasonable care and skill; and
  • be free from material manufacturing defects.

This warranty does not apply to defects arising from:

  • incorrect installation;
  • misuse;
  • modification;
  • fair wear and tear;
  • accidental damage;
  • customer-supplied materials;
  • customer-supplied design errors;
  • use outside the intended application.

Where a valid warranty claim is accepted, Laser Lab may, at its sole discretion:

  • repair the Goods;
  • replace the Goods; or
  • provide a full or partial refund.

These remedies are in addition to, and do not affect, any statutory rights available to consumers.

32. Business Customers (B2B)

Where the Customer is purchasing Goods or Services in the course of a business, trade, profession or public authority, the provisions of this section shall apply in addition to the remainder of these Terms.

The Customer acknowledges that:

  • the Goods are supplied for commercial purposes;
  • it is responsible for determining the suitability of the Goods for its intended application;
  • it has not relied upon any statement, representation or advice except where expressly confirmed in writing by Laser Lab.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, all implied terms relating to fitness for a particular purpose are excluded in respect of business customers.

Nothing within this section excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

33. Samples & Prototypes

Prototype parts and sample components are supplied for evaluation purposes only.

Unless expressly agreed in writing, prototype parts:

  • are not production-approved;
  • may differ slightly from future production runs;
  • should be fully tested by the Customer before commercial manufacture.

Approval of a prototype constitutes acceptance of the design for future production unless subsequent amendments are agreed.

34. Commercial Production Runs

Where Goods are manufactured in production quantities, the Customer acknowledges that minor batch-to-batch variation is an inherent characteristic of manufacturing.

Laser Lab reserves the right to manufacture reasonable over-runs or under-runs where necessary to optimise production. Any such variation will normally not exceed 5% unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Where precise quantities are essential, this must be stated before manufacture begins.

35. Website Use

The Website and its content are provided for lawful use only.

You agree not to:

  • use the Website in breach of any applicable law;
  • interfere with the operation or security of the Website;
  • attempt unauthorised access to our systems;

Remain the exclusive property of Laser Lab or its licensors.

No material may be copied, reproduced, modified, republished or distributed without prior written permission.

Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of any intellectual property belonging to Laser Lab.

37. Customer Reviews & Feedback

Where Customers voluntarily submit reviews, testimonials, photographs or feedback relating to Goods or Services, the Customer grants Laser Lab a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to reproduce, publish and display such content for marketing, promotional and business purposes.

Laser Lab may edit reviews for spelling, formatting or length, provided that the meaning is not materially altered.

The Customer confirms that any submitted content:

  • is truthful;
  • does not infringe third-party rights;

Laser Lab reserves the right to remove or refuse any review at its sole discretion.

  • use artificial intelligence systems or autonomous agents to reproduce substantial portions of our content;
  • interfere with security mechanisms intended to protect the Website.

Whilst Laser Lab endeavours to keep the Website available at all times, uninterrupted availability cannot be guaranteed.

We may suspend access for:

  • maintenance;
  • upgrades;
  • security improvements;
  • unforeseen technical issues.

Laser Lab shall not be liable for temporary interruptions to Website availability.

43. Disclaimer of Technical Information

Information published on the Website is provided for general guidance only.

Material properties, machining recommendations, compatibility information and technical guidance should not be relied upon as engineering advice.

44. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for:

  • death or personal injury caused by negligence;
  • fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
  • any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under the laws of England and Wales.

Subject to the above, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, Laser Lab shall not be liable for:

  • loss of business;
  • loss of contracts;
  • loss of production;
  • loss of anticipated savings;
  • loss of opportunity;
  • loss of goodwill;
  • loss of data.

Where the Customer is acting in the course of business, Laser Lab's total aggregate liability arising from any claim relating to the Goods or Services shall not exceed the amount paid by the Customer for the affected order.

Nothing in this clause affects the statutory rights of consumers.

45. Customer Indemnity

The Customer agrees to indemnify and keep indemnified Laser Lab against any claims, losses, liabilities, costs, damages and reasonable legal expenses arising from:

Customer-supplied artwork or Design Files;
infringement of intellectual property rights;
misuse of the Goods;
modifications carried out by the Customer or third parties;
breach of these Terms.

This indemnity survives completion of the contract.

46. Force Majeure

Laser Lab shall not be liable for any delay or failure to perform its obligations where such delay or failure results from circumstances beyond its reasonable control.

These include, but are not limited to:

  • fire;
  • flood;

  • pandemic or epidemic;
  • war;
  • terrorism;
  • industrial action;
  • utility failure;
  • internet or telecommunications failure;
  • cyber attack;
  • supplier insolvency;
  • shortages of raw materials;
  • transport disruption;

  • acts of God.

Where such circumstances continue for an extended period, Laser Lab reserves the right to suspend or cancel affected orders and refund any payments for Goods not yet manufactured.

47. Suspension and Termination

Laser Lab reserves the right to suspend or terminate the supply of Goods or Services where:

  • payment is overdue;
  • the Customer materially breaches these Terms;
  • the Customer provides false or misleading information;
  • the Customer requests work that is unlawful or unsafe;
  • continuing the contract would place Laser Lab in breach of applicable law.

Termination shall not affect any rights or obligations that have accrued prior to termination.

Where manufacture has already commenced, the Customer may remain liable for work completed, materials purchased and costs reasonably incurred before termination.

48. Cancellation of Orders

Consumers may have statutory rights to cancel certain orders under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

However, these cancellation rights do not generally apply to Goods that are:

  • made to the Customer's specification;
  • clearly personalised;
  • custom manufactured.

For standard, non-personalised Goods, cancellation rights will apply in accordance with UK consumer legislation and our Returns & Refunds Policy.

Business customers may not cancel accepted orders without the prior written agreement of Laser Lab.

Where Laser Lab agrees to a cancellation after manufacture has commenced, we reserve the right to charge for:

  • work completed;
  • materials purchased;
  • design time;
  • administration costs;
  • any other reasonable losses incurred.

49. Export Compliance

The Customer is responsible for ensuring that any Goods exported outside the United Kingdom comply with all applicable import laws, regulations and standards in the destination country.

Laser Lab shall not be liable for delays, costs or losses arising from customs inspections, import duties, taxes or restrictions imposed by overseas authorities.

50. Assignment

The Customer may not assign, transfer or subcontract any rights or obligations under these Terms without the prior written consent of Laser Lab.

Laser Lab may assign or transfer its rights and obligations where reasonably necessary as part of the operation, restructuring or sale of the business.

51. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with any quotation, order confirmation and the policies expressly referred to within them, constitute the entire agreement between Laser Lab and the Customer.

They supersede all prior discussions, negotiations, correspondence, representations and agreements relating to the subject matter of the contract.

No variation shall be binding unless agreed in writing by an authorised representative of Laser Lab.

52. No Waiver

Failure by Laser Lab to enforce any provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that provision or any other provision.

Any waiver shall only be effective if made in writing.

53. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found by a court or other competent authority to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable, that provision shall, to the extent necessary, be deemed severed from these Terms.

The remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

54. Third-Party Rights

Except as expressly provided within these Terms, a person who is not a party to this agreement shall have no rights under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 to enforce any provision of these Terms.
