Melamine Faced Medium-density fibreboard (MDF) is a cost effective, alternative to the use of solid wood timber. It has all the benefits of standard MDF but with the additional benefit of requiring no further finishing (except in moisture areas where the cut edges should be sealed). MDF is an engineered wood product formed by breaking down hardwood or softwood residuals into wood fibres, the fibres are combined with a wax and resin binder to form a rigid consistent board. BENEFITS ? It is dense, flat, stiff, has no knots and is easily machined. Its consistency makes it ideal for laser cutting and engraving.
